Konrad Ernst Otto Zuse

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Zuse

"Turing and Zuse had many similar ideas. But they did not know each other, they were isolated. It was not until the end of World War II that they heard about their respective achievements. And in late summer 1947 there was a mysterious meeting in Göttingen. British scientists of the National Physical Laboratory (Teddington, London) interrogated German researchers. Participants included Arthur Porter, Alan Turing and John Womersley (England) as well as Heinz Billing, Helmut Schreyer, Alwin Walther and Konrad Zuse. This reunion is described by the memoir of the German computer pioneer Billing from the Max Planck Institute for Physics (Munich). However, In the memoirs published by Porter and Zuse the colloquium at Göttingen is not mentioned. As all the actors have died, it is difficult to verify the story. At the moment, we are still looking for further evidence."   https://web.archive.org/web/20130521211106/http://www.mathcomp.leeds.ac.uk/turing2012/Images/Turing_Zuse.pdf

"In 1967, Zuse suggested that the universe itself is running on a cellular automaton or similar computational structure (digital physics); in 1969, he published the book Rechnender Raum (translated into English as Calculating Space).[15][16][17] "Ahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Zuse#1945-1995

Sydney had the beginnings of a subway decades before Toronto & Montreal.

Opened20 December 1926

"Designed by John Bradfield in the Inter-War Stripped Classical architectural style,[1] the station comprises two platforms, each 158.5 metres (520 ft) long by 3.8 metres (12 ft) wide, under an arch with span 14.6 metres (48 ft). Museum's signage and cream tiling with maroon highlights are reminiscent of a typical London Underground tube station of the era, however its layout of central tracks under a grand arch are more in keeping with older stations of the Paris Métro. Until the construction of the Airport Line in the 1990s, it was the only underground station in Sydney without an island platform." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_railway_station#Design

A.I. and Big Data, etc.

Artificial Intelligence. can try to mimic some attributes of the human mind, but A.I. is more like a digital brain & a database database. http://www.wired.com/rawfile/2013/01/david-vintiner-world-memory-championships

In one sense, the more retrievable data that can be stored, the better.
http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2013/05/army-biometrics-cloud
Of course, this means that almost everything in & around the world can eventually become recorded or interpolated. http://therabbitportal.blogspot.ca/2013/06/global-surveillance-systems.html

The brain is a physical organ that some believe only produces the illusion of consciousness.
https://www.msu.edu/~brains/brains/human
As humanity advances with technology, there is even more of a push to basically imply that consciousness is simply a byproduct of the human mind. There can't be life before or after the current life experience, because the concept of reincarnation causes too many people to ask too many questions. There can't be any intelligent life on other worlds, because that will also cause too many people to ask too many questions about the nature of reality. http://www.infinicity.org

As a small portion of humanity has been able to develop more efficient & expansive supercomputers to record everything possible, it is hoped that most of humanity will never become aware of  the ancient concept of the Akashic Records.

So far just trying to record, interpolate & model-the-known-universe is challenging enough.
