There has been an anti-human sentiment building up over the past several decades. The main motivating factor has been the concern about extreme population growth. From a multimillionaire perspective, more people on Earth means less resources for them. Adequate food and fresh water are a concern for a growing world population. Plus, how so many jobs can eventually be replaced by AI, causing mass unemployment and civil unrest.
What would happen if some Dr._Evil types and their minions could effectively get AI to kill off most, but not all people? Human improvements or human augmentation can be beneficial, but Transhumanism could eventually lead to the replacement of people with Synthetic Humans with Super AI intelligence.
